Real-estate agent

CONTEXT

When I joined the real estate agency Liberkeys as the first Product Designer in 2019, real estate agents were complaining about their tools, so the CTO asked me to improve their experience.

The CEO had greater ambition: he wanted me to create an internal tool for Liberkeys agents and then sell it as a SaaS to other real estate agencies.

UX Roadmap

01|

Understanding the problem,
in the shoes of real estate agent

Before diving into research, I needed to get a clear picture of real estate agent work. That's why I decided to follow the company training for beginner agents.

Quantitative + Qualitative Data

• Study of the whole buying/selling house process
• Follow agents on typical day to build user journey map
• User interview
• Survey
• Data analysis (Properties listing statistics, sales performance...)

Competitive Analysis

• Benchmark of real estate SaaS
• Analysis of all the agents' tools and their use (Transaction, Calendar, communication...) in order to find pain points

What does a typical day of an real estate agent look likes ?

Summurized user journey map to get a clear picture

Commute time impact

To evaluate the impact of commute time on agents workdays, I asked for their consent and tracked their smartphone.

It spends, on average 25% of his time traveling

What's the most time consuming agent tasks ?

Goal: Knowing wich tasked can be digitalized and automated.
Panel:  32 agents (16 beginners and 16 experimented)
Survey: Among 10 tasks, agent could choose a maximum of 3 tasks they found boring and/or time consuming.

Recurring pain points during user interviews

REAL ESTATE AGENT

Lucien P.

" At Liberkeys we manage a lot of properties at once, sometimes I get lost.

A simple visualization of my pipeline would be welcome..."

CITY MANAGER

Marie L.

" It would be awesome to have more statistics, like the number of clicks to view the properties.

I don't talk just for me as manager but for agents too."

REAL ESTATE AGENT

Antoine T.

" The broadacsting of ads on real estate listings is very time consuming !

I have to fill long forms on each website i want to post my ad to. "

Find solutions as a team

To stay user and business oriented, we picked 3 keys drivers to be followed throughout the project.

1.

All-in-one

2.

Mobility

3.

Smart

Centralize
all real estate transactions

Let the users work everywhere,
regardless of their device

Assist the agents during their work,
automation of tasks with IA

Workshop with agents

Gathering small groups and without limiting their creativity.

I asked agents to find solutions to specifics pain points.

Good ideas come from users !

During workshops, I exhort participants to draw their ideas (with no quality requirements).

This is a communication timeline with a potential buyer or seller that a participant came up with.
The agent wanted to see at a glance their previous communications with this individual (whether it was an email, a phone call, or a physical meeting).

They also needed to add comments like:
"Seller has to think before signs the mandate"
"Buyer has to talk with his wife about the price"

This concept was used to build our final product.

Include engineers into product as soon as possible !

Before stating that solutions are not possible or too long to develop, I make sure to render the result of my investigations to the whole team (CTO, Product Manager, Back/Front-end developers, Data analyst...) to get their feedbacks and ideas.

A lot of ideas for Dôme (especially regarding data) comes from engineers!

Prototype and iterate

Thanks to our design system, we were able to create a high-fidelity prototype very quickly.
During this stage, we iterated on each subject multiple times a day to find the UX which is now validated by users.

Mobile first architcture

In order to prioritize as well as possible, we have designed a mobile first architecture.
This allowed us to prioritize the entry points most used by users.

Since agents move a lot from a category to another, we chose to display a side menu on desktop.

Dashboard

Dôme's dashboard clearly displays information so that real estate agents get a complete view of their work at a glance: meetings, tasks, ad statistics, selling performance.
They do not need to use different tools (like to-do lists, calendar, sales SaaS, classified ads websites) anymore, everything is now available in one place.

Clear pipeline view

We chose to only display the most relevant information: how many properties does the agent have in his/her pipeline, and at which stage of the process they are.

A global search can be used to find more specific information.

One click broadcast

Before Dôme, agents had to fill long forms to display ads for properties in their portfolio on each property ads websites.

We imagined a system that reuses information collected during property valuation.
The agent only has to check this data and add photos.
Then, in a single click (thanks to Ubiflow technology), we broadcast an ad for this property on more than 10 classified ads websites.
